Breaking News! The Hubert Shuptrine Gallery at 369 Main Street, Highlands, NC, has recently reopened, in its same prime location.
When the Gallery opened with much fanfare in 2004, it was the pride of the town. It promises to once again be a landmark destination.
After Hubert’s death in April 2006, I continued to run the Gallery with the assistance of a weekdays manager. But she needed weekends off. The weekend trips to and from Chattanooga to the Gallery exhausted me, especially in the throes of grieving. Regrettably, I closed the doors in 2007.
I am excited about the reopening of the Gallery, for I had been thinking about it. That the same space suddenly became available was truly serendipitous.
In addition to Hubert’s legacy collection of giclées and some of his paintings, the Gallery will showcase works of a select number of leading artists.
Collectors wishing to resell Hubert’s earlier paintings and/or more recent ones may contact the Hubert Shuptrine Gallery.
Managing the Gallery is Claire Carter, who has extensive experience in gallery operations, marketing and knowledge of art.
Stephanie Shuptrine, my daughter and artist to whom her father left his studio, will be at the easel in the Gallery and ready to greet and regreet visitors.
We look forward to welcoming fans old and new and to having them celebrate this happy homecoming.
